Places will be allocated using the criteria below for Marston Vale Middle School, Stewartby, Bedfordshire

Children with an Education, Health and Care (EHC) Plan naming the particular school will be admitted before the following oversubscription criteria applies:

  1. Looked after children and previously looked after children including those that appear to the school to have been in state care outside of England and ceased to be so as a result of being adopted
  2. Children of staff currently employed at the school
  3. Pupils who are currently attending Broadmead Lower School
  4. Children in the catchment area with siblings at the school who will still be attending the school at the proposed date of admission
  5. Children living in the catchment area of the school
  6. Children who live outside of the catchment area with siblings at the school who will still be attending the school at the proposed date of admission
  7. Pupils who are currently attending the other feeder schools:-  Marston Moreteyne VC School, Houghton Conquest Lower and Thomas Johnson Lower School
  1. Children living closest to the school measured on straight line distance

THE APPLICATION PROCESS

For entry into Year 5

  • All families applying for a transfer to Middle School at the start of Year 5 (point of entry) must apply to their own local authority.  For families living in Bedford Borough, this is Bedford Borough Council School Admissions Service.   For families living in Central Bedfordshire, this is Central Bedfordshire School Admissions Service.   If you live outside of Bedford Borough and wish to apply for a place in a Bedford Borough School school, you must apply to your own local authority, who will then liaise with Bedford Borough Council.

  • This is classed as an In-year Application.  Bedford Borough Council will happily accept your applications from now onwards.  You can contact the school directly or Bedford Borough School Admissions.  

What to do if your application is unsuccessful

  • Should you wish to appeal the outcome of your application, please contact the school and we will explain the appeals process to you.
